I assume my issue with this ASUS vbios is it shows as being a Dell card but the Device ID is from ASUS? I don't understand why it would let me flash to the ASUS vbios and not back to the Dell vbios.Īnyway I saw that the PCI Device ID was different (ASUS=1BE1 | Dell=1BA1), so I figure that's what it's fussing about, but I don't know if it's possible to change it back in order to flash back. So I tried to revert to the other vbios and all I got was this "GPU Mismatch". It flashed, I restarted, but now the card shows up as "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" and Nvidia won't recognize the card for installing drivers. So rashly I suppose I decided to try flashing to another manufacturer's vbios that was the same card (as far as I could tell) and chose THIS vbios from ASUS. So I decided that Dell's firmware was the culprit because I found many posts on Google of people with the same problem. Instead I recieved more BSODs with various causes all about files associated with the GPU. I first attempted reinstalling drivers, same as before, and nothing worked. After I flashed it it worked! Happy day! (I had backed up the original vbios, but when compared they were identical so I didn't keep it.) But then a couple days later I had a BSOD (video_tdr_failure nvlddmkm.sys) followed by the return of the code 43 on the GFX card. So I found THIS vbios backup from the same device. reinstall again) and nothing worked, so I figured the firmware must be the problem from that bad MOBO flash after I read Dell flashes both the MOBO and GPU at once. I replaced the lcd and tried everything for the GFX card (uninstall device, reinstall drivers, delete nvidia from everything. no memory instead of 2GB).Here's the process prior to my current issue: I aquired this Alienware 15 R3 laptop with a broken lcd and a code 43 error on the graphics card after the previous owner had a bad MOBO flash update. I obviously would like to get Windows to fully recognize the NVIDIA card (I have another one being delivered, because this one might just be bad ie. I have screen shots of info from both the Device Manager and GPU-Z On RARE OCCASION I will get the "legaleese" window, but never further than that. When you click on it in the APPS panel, nothing happens MOST of the time. The NVIDIA drivers installation went smoothly with no "hiccups".It "saw" the NVIDIA card. I see from GPU-Z that there is no memory, yet the card is supposed to have 2GB The aspect ratio is wrong (large black boarder around image on screen) Hardware Acceleration is not enabled (possibly because it is showing as Microsoft BDA) The drivers, hardware IDs, manufacturer, etc all show NVIDIA. The Display Adapter shows Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. Their recommendation is to try the card in a different PC for testing. I have been talking to NVIDIA tech support for days. Installed a NVIDIA GeForce GT640 card, and it has not worked properly yet. I used DDU to remove the AMD/ATI drivers and put in the most recent (441.66) NVIDIA driver. I have upgraded the CPU to a 1065T and the power supply to 600W. Because of that, I am limited to NVIDIA GT6xx cards or "smaller". Since then I have tried to upgrade my GPU with NVIDIA.Īccording to HP, the BIOS on my motherboard cannot be updated any further than it is now. When I upgraded I was still using the integrated ATI/AMD HD4200 GPU. It had many failures attempting to upgrade until I disabled the Driver Signature requirment. In the middle of December, I upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate (圆4) to Windows 10 Pro (圆4) ver. I have a HP Pavilion p6774y I purchased new MANY years ago. My first post here, and I'm no computer scientist, so please understand my lack of understanding.
